About the Farm

Our farm, seen from Cady mountain.

Our farm is on an island called San Juan. It is one in a group of about 350 islands called the San Juan's Islands, located of the Northwest coast of Washington state. Some islands are tiny, and some are big, we live on the 2nd largest island (about 55 square miles). Although the Pacific Northwest is known for it's mild, wet winters the San Juan's are in a drier region known as the 'Banana Belt', a rain shadow created by the Olympic mountains. We get about half the annual rainfall as our neighbors in Seattle.

Our farm is about 23 acres, and the horses are outside year round. I try to raise the horses as naturally as possible, and only use organic and natural products. My goal is to breed Akhal Teke's as true to type as possible.

We have a well, and unlike many others, our water does not have the sulfur taste, hence our name ''Sweet Water Farm''.

Our main income is from milling local wood with a portable woodmizer and building hand-cut (by us) timberframes.

We can mill at your site or at our farm.
