A Note from the Author
My name is Siege-Freide Karras. First of all,
let me shortly tell you who I am: My father was Dr. Peters, one of
the first A-T breeders in Germany. Phil Case bought the mare Dari
and Dari's daughter Dunja from him. At the end of the 80's I could
buy my first mare, a golden Vatanchi-daughter, Meletaj. With Meletaj
I established my very little breeding.
At the same time, living in Berlin, I could
get several Russian books about A-Ts from the public library of St.
Petersburg, formerly Leningrad Between these books were K.I. Gorelov's
book about the A-T breeding (1928), W.O. Witt's book about the Horse
Races in Middle Asia and M.I. Belonogov's books about the Rules in
Breeding A-Ts (1955). Sabine Topfer-Gebert and I got these texts translated
into German. Some years later I began to write a book about Akhal-Tekes
and you can find parts of these translations as quotations in my book.
History, verbal traditions, rides, Ashkabad to Moscow in 35 and 51
years later, lines, breeding goals and present stand of A-T breeding,
Standard, nature and character, literature, breeders. |
