You can see the video of the fox hunt (drag hunt) here
Also this month we bought the mare Sheherezad who was here in training...

Horfa Horse Expo, Shanghai, China
September 2010
We went to Shanghai's first horse Expo and had a booth to represent the Akhal-Teke breed.
Here is the link to more adventures about it on Jenny's blog
It was a very neat experiance. We visited the "world Expo", and went to "Turkmenistan".
And Turkmenistan..visited our booth!
We flew back and the day after we arrived in Seattle we left for Kentucky to visit the booth at the World Equestrian Games.
We had tickets to see some of the dressage, all of the eventing and one day of show jumping.
Here is more about the WEG booth on Jenny's blog
Needless to say that by the time we came home we were exhausted.

September 2010
Finally we came to an agreement for the pony's name..we got to know him a little, and we decided on Napoleon. He is as cute as can be, and perfect for the kids lessons.
We also got 7 horses shipped here from California...They will be here for sale and training.
About Gaale, we are very excited about this mare since she is the mother of Pasabi the gelding Jenny competes on, and we have his father Pan Tau here...We hope to have many more little Pasabi's in the future!

Aspen Horse Triales
September 2010
We went to Aspen Horse trials with Pasabi. Paktaly has a stone bruise and has to stay home.
Kamiah found a home in California and so we dropped her off at the shippers, That meant I was the groom and photographer...ohhh yes...and since we had an empty spot in the trailer I was also the pony shopper...Yeah right..what are the odds of that...
Aspen is a beautiful place....and they held their first 2 star event...the first in WA state! Dressage warm up was crowded...and it was hot..but Jenny has a groom who is holding her jacket! They had a nice test. There are so many participants they run Novice stadium on Saturday. They had a double clear jump round, Ahhh..the cross country..I had my strategy planned on where to run to to get the most pictures..
The course could be one of the best decorated and imaginative in the country! They where one of the few to go direct in the water, and they are home They finished 15th in their division
And what do you know..on the notice board I found a little hand scrabble announcing a pony for sale...
We swung by on the way home, and it took us 5 minutes to buy him...

Pole Star Farm Schooling Show
August 2010
We took Marauder and Pasabi to a schooling show at Pole Star.
First we went to Sunset park in Bellingham and schooled there.
This was Marauder's first time ever at cross country and he was enjoying himself.
At the show he did remarkably well. It was a great experience for him, he's an easy going horse and fun to ride!
Jenny and Pasabi had fun too, Since it's a schooling show, Jenny opted for jump rounds only...And that was a good decision, they got more confident by every round,
The water obstacle has a rock in it...Ok..it's a humongous boulder! Very breath taking...but Pasabi didn't seem bothered by it a bit!
The next day we had a jump lesson.
And we got compliments on the Akhal-Teke's!

Worm Counts & Barefoot Trimming
August 2010
Things aren't slowing down a bit at the farm, we do our own worm count and worm the horses accordingly,
We also trim all the horses ourselves and keep them barefoot, even for going on the trails and competing
Kegas is getting used to the saddle fast, and sitting on him proves to be no stress to him!
Many a visitor has come and gone on rides...

Building Cross Country Jumps
July 2010
It's the end of July and my nice niece from Nice and her boyfriend decided to thank us for having them by building some cross county jumps. This is the key hole in progress..
In the mean time Jenny's tiny niece got vaulting lessons from her auntie,
Swallows hatched, grew up and flew away,
Ak Pashildi went on his way to his new home in the Bahamas,
And Jenny got her visiting brother to squeeze in a pair of her breeches and took him for a trail ride!

Area VII Young Riders Benefit Horse Trials
July 2010
We went to our first recognized USEA show!
Area VII young Riders Benefit
Jenny was in Novice A, and I was in Novice B.
We started the morning braiding, first time for our horses! And they looked good!
We got on the horses alll tacked up, and just as Jenny was ready to get on, Pasabi stepped on her toe!.... HARD! ....By the expression on her face, I thought she was done for the weekend..but after a few minutes she said she was all right and climbed on his back.
She was obviously in pain, and complained about a squishy feeling in her boot...
We did our tests, and we were both pleased with our horses as they seem to settle in faster now and concentrate more on the job.
Back in camp Jenny took her boot off, and low and behold! Her toenail was broken off only held on by one side!
Yes...sorry for the nasty picture...
We got help form Jessica, a nurse who wrapped it up nicely for her.
And Jenny just kept on going.
Cross country went really well, it was a challenging course, a lot of people had refusals, including one for Jenny, but otherwise our horses did great!
Paktaly and I went double clear!
Stadium the last day was unexpected....we had a combination jump of 4a and 4b, a one stride, and a lot of horses had a stop at 4b. Quite a few riders even fell off.
Jenny had 2 stops at 4b but her 3rd try they went over, but the judge had seen enough and blew her whistle and eliminated them!
I had a refusal too at 4b, but the 2nd time we jumped clear, had one rail down on course, some time faults, and...finished 6th place!!!!
I am so proud of my horse!!!!
Oh, and both horses are going barefoot, a huge plus on these dry summer grasses! We have no slippage whatsoever!

Lincoln Creek Schooling Show
July 2010
We went to a schooling show at Lincoln Creek by Centralia, WA.
It was hot, we had bad traffic getting there, so we unloaded and got the chairs out, found a shady spot and let the horses graze in style!
Once we were rested and the horses had had a good graze, we put them in their stalls, set up camp, and tacked up to practice dressage.
Well,...little dressage was practiced at first, they were so herd bound!
But slowly they got over it, and they are getting used to the fact they are ok and will see each other again.
The first day dressage was still emotional for me and Paktaly with him every now and then looking around for Pasabi.
But overall much better than the test a few weeks ago. Same for Jenny and Pasabi.
We are pleased that our boys are coming along this fast.
Cross country was very challenging, we had to go trough the water and out up a bank, we had a course over a dike with narrow jumps and some of them on a bend.
Stadium was challenging too, with a bog roll top painted with a pretty rainbow on it...a lot of horses had a stop there, including me!
Jenny ended up 6th in Novice for the day! I did not place. The second day we had the same courses. Dressage went even better for both horses.
Same as Cross country and stadium.
Jenny ended up 3rd, and me 6th!

Stanwood Schooling Show
July 2010
We took Paktaly and Pasabi to a schooling show in Stanwood.
The day before the show we went to Sunset park just North of Bellingham.
We schooled the water, ditches and jumps there. Pasabi is just like his sire Pan Tau, cantering into water he's never seen is a "walk in the park". We did novice level at the schooling show, and extra dressage rounds and jump rounds.
The horses performed really well, especially the jumping since we never had done a course with them yet, and didn't know what to expect. But they were bold and brave! There were jumps we had never done, like hedge jumps, flags and ribbons flapping in the wind...
Thanks to Tina and her friend we have lots of pictures!
There were even trains going by tooting very loud!
On the way home waiting for the ferry we had carrots for people to give to the horses.
Big or small, everyone liked the occasion!

June 2010
Time to hay! Luckily we have the help of my niece from France Sophie and her boyfriend Ben.
My son Sam enjoys haying too and usually he has a lot of friends who like to help!
This year we got it just about perfect...I think we made the best hay yet!
It is ripe, but not over ripe! It smells delicious..the horses will love it.

Silk Road Marauder ( Teddy)
June 2010
We bought a gelding. He is 5 years old and not broke yet.
We drove to Idaho to pick him up at our friends place.
Teddy is extremely sweet!
His real name is Marauder..but we'll use that as a show name....Silk road Marauder.
People will figure out he's no TB, nor an Arab...he's an Akhal Teke!

June 2010
Jenny and I went to Chase Creek in Canada to Nick Holmes-Smith event camp.
This was Jenny's first time, after all she had heard about it, it was no let down!
The horses jumped well, we watched other people ride, had a good time camping as usual...
And our young horses gained a lot of confidence!
Jenny rode Pasabi, and I rode Paktaly who was born at Sweet Water Farm!

Blown Clutch on Freeway!
April 2010
On the 31st of March we departed for our first schooling show with our 3 green horses, Pasabi, Paktaly and Urik the Friesian.
We drove off the ferry and a half hour out of town the truck would not go into gear...we had lost our clutch!
We coasted to the side off the freeway, and called a tow truck. We had to have 2 come, one for the trailer, one for the truck.
We got towed to the nearest Dodge dealer and called my husband to come pick us up.
Instead of going home, he insisted to continue since we were all ready to go, so we did.
We arrived at the show grounds not too late in the evening.
It was freezing cold that night, and terrible weather the next day.
It rained on us so hard during the cross country lesson the horses were trying to go backwards to find shelter under the trees!
To make things worse our heater didn't work. Our clothes were soaked..so we decided to go home early!
We got home from the show to find Pallas Athena had given birth to a lovely colt!
He is strong and healthy and super friendly!
