Orissa is here again for the summer, she works at the Friday Harbor Labs, and in the few spare minutes she has she comes and rides, sometimes a young horse, or a horse who did not get used yet that day,...but her favorite is Paelka...

It's fun teaching horses to jump different objects...not hindered by a rider they gain confidence fast...
Jenny and I had dressage lessons a few days ago. As busy as we are they are hard to squeeze in, and when we do, we realize how much we miss them! Here is Jenny on Penta and me on Paelka.
Zoe has been riding with us for several years now.
She has been living in Seattle and only been on the island part time. Today she came for a jump lesson..and she has not forgotten a thing...she jumped 3".3' courses today on Paelka. Last weekend we took Penta, Paktaly, Kegas and the pony to Whidbey Island to school cross country with Linda Chatfield.
On Saturday we froze as the weather got colder and started to rain on us...but the riding was great! Sunday we came prepared all bundled up. Marina on the pony got a bloody lip due to looking down over the jumps and hitting the pony's neck on landing when he took a good look at the log...Marina just smiled and jumped better afterwards! Can't wait for her to move up to a Teke! In September she will have ridden one year...yes..only one...she is amazing! That was the only mishap for the weekend. We were really please how well Penta did! His first time out! It seems like ages since we jumped in our front pasture..and really, it has been..last summer is almost a year ago!
We have Orissa here again, she is working at the Friday Harbor labs..and we do a good job distracting her enticing her to ride with us! The horses were definitely in need of a schooling our odd objects...we have a kayak, a huge rock, and then your regular XC jumps... |
