It seems like ages since we jumped in our front pasture..and really, it has been..last summer is almost a year ago!
We have Orissa here again, she is working at the Friday Harbor labs..and we do a good job distracting her enticing her to ride with us! The horses were definitely in need of a schooling our odd objects...we have a kayak, a huge rock, and then your regular XC jumps... Ayal Pikira and Sheherezad are happy to be home again from the clinic.
We let them back out in the herd, and they were so happy to be grazing again! Early tomorrow morning we have a ferry reservation for the 8am ferry to the main land..with our precious laod, mommy and foal to be bred by AI. Also Pallas Athena will be bred by AI.
For Pipi we chose the handsome and balck Arim. Fot "Tina" we chose the hansome and "whitte" Arin. Hope they won't be confused at the clinic...they won't ..we gave them plenty of warnings on who is who..and Tina specimen is already on it's way as I write this.. Naming foals traditionally one would take the first letter of the mom for a filly and vice verse for the dad... In our case that is another "P" name..and I can't keep my "P" straight anymore... So we opted for a name that reflects our filly's looks more..she has a small black spot on her left hind cheek as you can see in the picture.. Hallygul means: A girl with a birth mark that is as beautiful as a flower... Guzel Gush is eye catching..and finally we took some new pictures of her too yesterday..she turned 1 years old in April!
Ohh..how can you walk away from the little ones?!!!
If we pretend we're not home.this is why..busy taking pictures... As the sun got warmer, more birds came to clean up..eagles, vultures and the crows got slim pickings! Although home we did leave...to pick up Sheherezad and Pika from the Mount Vernon Large Animal Hospital..in 2 weeks we will know if they are pregnant! |
