Finally...with the help of Zoe we found a fitting name!
Not easy to do with Turkmen words that are hard to pronounce, trying to match letters of the parents...he seems pretty brave and has 4 socks...soooo I REALLY like the meaning of this one... Arslan Jorap meaning Lion Socks. Early in the morning Ahlie Rhatan gave birth to a handsome Perlino colt!
All went very well, and he's a big strong foal! I am so excited! Aktepel should be soon, they were bred a day apart. This year Turkmenistan is celebrating the fact that they are independent! The festivities where beautiful, a smaller attendance from foreigners made it all more "homey". The country was greener than I have ever seen this time of the year, and the mares and foals looked in better condition. I feel very fortunate to be able to visit the home land of our beloved Akhal - Teke horses! To see more please visit our FB page! Pluis and I met when we were 12 years old. We both loved horses and had many adventures together. We have always remained best friends...until cancer took her away much too early!!! I was so thankful to see her one last time, It is hard to believe you are no longer here...but you are forever in my thoughts and hart, Lieve Pluis!!!! The setting of this stable was just beautiful! This barn is geared for the drag fox hunt! They have a small CX field! My main purpose for the trip was to see the horses and decide whom to import semen from. Not an easy task! And not all the stallions I wanted to see where there...
It will be for the 2016 breeding season...so there is time.. I visited Medeus farm and got to ride in the Italian country side! The owner was in the midst of moving his breeding operation from Slovakia to Italy. We had to go to 4 different locations to see all the horses in Italy and the ones still in Slovakia I did not see much to my chagrin! The hunting stable was amazingly beautiful! That is where I rode the black stallion Serapion (Posnan-Kara x Stella) The owner Bruno rode the perlino stallion Medeo (Ekemen x Martinika). One afternoon Bruno rode the mare Marpessa (Perengistan x Martinika) and I got to ride the stallion Damysus (Akderek x Desse). Marpessa is in training for endurance and Damysus endurance and eventing, he was a dream to ride! Here you can see Damysus cross country competition April 8, 2015 https://youtu.be/HvbcniNuZcM Next day we rode Bruno Medeo and I I was fortunate to be able to go to Turkmenistan again this year. I stopped in Europe for a week and visited Medeus farm in Milan, they are in the process of relocating. I had the chance to ride 3 stallions, more about that soon! The celebrations in Ashgabad were spectacular as usual! 2 more airplane rides and I'll be home! Unless I go to a clinic or schooling show, all recognized 3 day events require 4 days for me. I have to leave a day in advance in order to be at the show grounds in time for dressage. This is because we are at the mercy of the ferry schedule. I'd never arrive in time if I would leave the same day as the competition starts. Depending how many horses I bring, and how far we have to travel, I have to pack for 4 days not forgetting a single item, I have a long check list to go over.
But our ferry commute is my favorite..it remains a beautiful piece full ride, with the occasional Orca whales passing buy or groups of Dolphins! |
